CNC Milling Design Guidelines

| Internal Radii | Internal corner radii should ideally be at least one-third of the cavity depth. Using larger radii when possible improves tool access, reduces machining stress, and enhances surface quality. |
| Threads & Tapped Holes | For threaded features Ø1.5–5 mm, recommended thread depth is about 3× the diameter. For threads ≥ Ø5 mm, a depth of 4–6× the diameter is recommended. Custom thread sizes and specifications can be produced according to project requirements. |
| Minimum Wall Thickness | Recommended minimum wall thickness is 0.8 mm for metal parts and 1.5 mm for plastic parts. Designing thicker walls where possible helps maintain part strength and dimensional stability. |
| Engraved Text | For CNC engraved text, the recommended minimum line width is 0.5 mm with a minimum depth of 0.1 mm. Text and markings can be created through CNC engraving or laser engraving depending on design requirements. |
| Holes | The recommended minimum hole diameter is 1 mm. For best machining performance, the hole depth should generally not exceed 4× the hole diameter. |
| Undercuts | Undercuts such as square, full-radius, or dovetail profiles should follow standard tooling sizes and be positioned away from internal corners to allow proper tool access. |
| Internal Corner Fillets | Sharp internal corners will naturally form radii due to round cutting tools. Fillets should typically be 0.020″–0.050″ larger than the standard tool radius to improve machining efficiency. |
